Tipping the Office Pool Host |
---|
If I win our Office Pool should I tip the person running it? I've had this question asked quite a few times, so I figured I would write this short article explaining my thoughts on this. A tip is by no means required, nor do I feel it should be expected by the person running the pool. If I run an office pool, it's because I enjoy it and want to participate in it and would never expect a tip of any kind. With that being said, I am not opposed to tipping the host. Office pool hosts can log a lot of hours organizing their pool and therefore deserve some sort of appreciation. Whether it's with money, a beer or a simple thank you, be sure to let them know they are appreciated. The majority of hosts will not accept a tip anyway, but most won't turn down a beer the next time you're at the bar. You should also keep in mind the type of pool it is. Running a 500 person survivor pool is quite different than running a simple 100 Square grid pool. |
