Sample College Basketball Tourney Pool Payouts and Prizes
Payout Structures
Below is a list of various payout structures you can use for your Bracket Office Pool. Please keep in mind you should check the laws in your local jurisdiction before wagering money on office pools.
Based on the number of entries, we recommend paying anywhere from 5%-10% of the total number of entries. The percentage of people being paid should decrease as the number of entries increase.
Example: If you have only 10 participants enter the pool, we recommend paying out 10%(1) of the entries. If you have 200 participants enter, we recommend paying out 5%(10) of the entries.
Payouts Per Entries
The table below shows the number of payouts per entry, along with the percentages that should be paid out based on what place the participant finishes. If your number of entries is between one of the sets of numbers, you should round up to the next number of payouts(15 entries would pay 2 places).
Entries | Payouts | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th |
10 | 1 | 100% | - | - | - | - | - | - |
20 | 2 | 70% | 30% | - | - | - | - | - |
30 | 3 | 65% | 25% | 10% | - | - | - | - |
40 | 4 | 55% | 25% | 15% | 5% | - | - | - |
50 | 5 | 50% | 20% | 15% | 10% | 5% | - | - |
100 | 7 | 40% | 20% | 15% | 10% | 8% | 5% | 2% |
Another option is to pay out the leader at the end of each round as opposed to multiple payouts at the end of the tournament. An example of this would be:
1st Round | 2nd Round | 3rd Round | 4th Round | 5th Round | 6th Round |
2% | 3% | 10% | 15% | 25% | 45% |
